Opportunities

VAULT Festival is hard work – but when you put on a show here, we want you to feel welcome and part of a community.

Workshops & Networking Events

Throughout the process, from programming to live time, we organise a number of industry workshops, talks, drop in sessions, and networking opportunities in which Visiting Companies can take part to help them make the most of the Festival – and the future life of their production.

Awards

Each year, VAULT Festival holds an Awards Ceremony in which multiple participants across the Festival are recognised for outstanding achievement, across a series of categories. You can see last year’s winners here.

Pleasance Programming Awards

Pleasance’s Pick of VAULT Festival gives a company in the 2020 VAULT Festival programme the opportunity to transfer their show to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2020, as part of the Pleasance Programme. Winners get a guaranteed prime slot in the Edinburgh programme at Pleasance, £1,000 cash investment from VAULT Festival towards the costs of presenting their show at the Fringe, and industry mentoring and support. This is a reciprocal award – VAULT Festival chooses a “Pick of Pleasance” to transfer to VAULT Festival in the following year on the same terms. If you’re part of the Pleasance Programme at Edinburgh 2019 and would like to be considered for this Award for VAULT Festival 2020, please let us know in your application.

Summerhall Programming Awards

Each year, Summerhall picks a VAULT Festival production to be a part of their Edinburgh Festival Fringe programme that Summer. VAULT Festival in turn selects a production from the Summerhall Edinburgh Festival Fringe programme to bring to VAULT Festival the following year. If you’re part of the Summerhall Programme in 2019 and would like to be considered for this Award at VAULT Festival 2020, please let us know in your application.

Staging Change – Sustainable Theatre Award

This year, we’re offering the opportunity for one Edinburgh Fringe production to win the Staging Change Award. The winner is programmed at VAULT Festival and recognised as an exemplary environmentally conscious production in both content and delivery. If you’d like to be considered, please fill out the “Staging Change Award” question in the application with the environmental credentials of your production, including how you intend to make it. If you are not taking a show up to the Fringe, you can be considered for Staging Change’s Top Green Picks at VAULT 2020. You can read more about Staging Changing and making theatre sustainable here: https://www.stagingchange.com/

Company Pass

Every visiting company gets a number of Company Passes which allow you to see shows for free – so long as they’re not sold out at the time the doors close. That way you can support other companies all festival long without breaking the bank and soak up everyone else’s creative ideas alongside your own.

And of course, as you’re spending so much time down at VAULT, you’re going to need to eat and drink – so each company pass comes with a 10% discount at the bar, too.
