An improvised comedy adventure with this ‘master of audience interaction’ (Huffington Post) as he raids the library of his fantastical imagination to create thrillers, romances, ghost stories and more original freewheeling tales that’ve never been told before and never will be again. Featuring live music from Katie Pritchard and live illustration from Olaf Falafe
Ben Van der Velde is a stand-up comedian, actor, improviser and presenter, who, over the past decade, has spread joy and nonsense to all four corners of the British Isles, as well as Greece, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Estonia, Latvia, Finland and Norway.
He is a regular host and act for respected British comedy clubs such as The Comedy Store, Komedia, The Backyard and the Glee as well as hosting stages for Bestival, Festival No.6 and End of the Road. On top of that, he has taken commissions to perform a voodoo re-marriage ceremony, founded the Church of the Holy Kazoo with comedy legend Mark Thomas, walked the entire London Underground network to raise money for The Refugee Council and even took part in experiments at The Royal Society that revealed him to have the most infectious laugh of any human, rat or monkey.
Katie Pritchard is an award-winning comedian, West End & TV Actor, musician, writer, and artist. She can be seen rocking out in award-winning all-girl Rock’n’Roll band The Daisy Chains, being very silly indeed on the tele box on Harry Hill’s Clubnite and as part of the musical improv geniuses Notflix. She is a whirlwind of creativity, whether creating nu-metal songs about Roman Emperors or playing any of her menagerie of instruments expertly.
Olaf Falafel is the daftest renaissance man around. A surrealist comedian, children’s book author/illustrator and current holder of the Funniest Joke of The Edinburgh Festival, Olaf’s stand up shows include his award nominated debut hour ‘Olaf Falafel and The Cheese Of Truth’, ‘The Marmosets Of My Mind’, ‘Knitting With Maracas’ and the award winning ‘There’s no i in idiot’. As well as finding comedic success onstage, Falafel has also enjoyed online fame with his short viral videos. These absurdist movies include a croissant-coiffured talking Donald Trump puppet, slices of truth telling cheese being thrown onto newspapers and the Bee Gees hiding in his beard.
