Fourteen-year-old David has just been punched in the face by his best friend.
He didn’t punch back, because violence solves nothing (and also because, thanks to puberty taking its sweet time, he’s a lot smaller than Steven).
Join David as he embarks on his music career alone, armed with his electric guitar, drum kit, loop station, and an unwavering commitment to rock.
Written and performed by Laurie Stevens (she/they), with support from Starting Blocks @ Camden People’s Theatre.
After studying music at university, Laurie chose the only career less stable than
music: acting.
Her credits include: Cinderella (Lyric Hammersmith), Meet/Cute (Leicester Square
Theatre), The Tempest (Cockpit Theatre), D*ck in Ibiza (Pulped TV).
She is an experienced improviser, including performances at UCB LA, The Free
Association, and two runs at the Edinburgh Fringe in Geraldyne: Improv from Music.
As a writer/performer, she has worked at the Old Red Lion, The Etcetera Theatre,
and Brick Lane Theatre Festival.
Fresh from spending the pandemic at Ecole Philippe Gaulier, this is Laurie’s first
solo show. She’s finally using that music degree.
