Earth is in its final years of oil consumption. Wildfires rage, crops fail, and flooding abounds. Societal collapse seems imminent, yet life trundles on. You still have to go to work, pay the bills, and do the big shop. DELTA P follows a team of divers deployed to one of the last oil rigs in operation. Their job is to decommission it.
They live 700 meters below the surface for a month, sharing a highly pressurised and tiny chamber with just each other for company. When things start to go wrong however, the pressure begins to build. The crew lose comms with the surface. Their life support systems faulter. Their grip on reality itself starts to fall away, leading to a thrilling and surreal climax.
DELTA P is a glimpse at a society on the precipice, seeking desperately for something to hope for.
Lonely Dodo Productions is a new multimedia production company dedicated to telling stories celebrating the extraordinary strangeness of being alive. Founded by Finn O'Riordain (an actor at the Central School of Speech and Drama), and Gabriel Ross (script supervisor, writer and director) our projects draw radical connections between people across time and space. What is the relationship for example, between one person turning on their gas stove and another working on deep-sea oil pipes; between two lovers' plastic posessions long after humans disappear; between the person who lived in your house one hundred years ago and you now, today? These are the kinds of stories we are compelled by, and that we invite you to explore with us!
