Meet Fanny Dent, a self-conscious misfit in the unlikely world of burlesque.
As someone who uses burlesque to tell stories, Fanny doesn’t need to be beautiful and feminine. Or does she? In this one-of-a-kind show combining burlesque with comedy, Fanny tells the story of how she found burlesque and offers a unique ‘behind-the-scenes’ insight into this misunderstood artform.
Is burlesque more interesting when it doesn’t try to be glamorous? Judge for yourself as Fanny performs the most chaotic, irreverent burlesque routines you’ve ever seen, and reveals all about the real life fantasies, fears and failures that inspired her to create them.
Brighton Fringe sell-out show 2021 – 2022.
Fanny Dent is a non-traditional burlesque performer who aims to defy expectations about burlesque by making it as ridiculous and un-sexy as possible. Instead, Fanny uses burlesque to confront relatable topics such as workplace inequality, body-image and nipples. Her solo show, The Burlesque Imposter was a Brighton Fringe sell-out in 2021 and 2022, and drew on her real life experiences of performing on the London Cabaret circuit. The show was also an audience favourite at Femfest Brighton, Brighton’s only arts festival made by and for people with experience of misogyny.
