The Wedding Speech is a piece that speaks to the impact of the primary relationship and the blind spots it can create in even the most self-aware person. It’s funny, charming, and relatable.
The motivation for writing the piece stems from the writer’s own self-development journey and from her work as a coach.
Cheryl May Coward-Walker is a Writer, Founder and Coach. Her 2019 play Black Beth was longlisted for the Verity Bargate Award and came highly commended on the shortlist for the Tony Craze Award. Cheryl is Founder of Purple Moon Drama, a youth theatre company that has toured a production for young people every year since 2016. The Wedding Speech is wildly relatable and I almost felt as though I was watching a mirror of a very similar life to mine.
