Yazmin and Mollie are in the prime of their lives, or so they think. Surviving but not thriving at an elite private all-girls school. They navigate school, boys, friendships and the relentless pressures from society. Over three days, we watch as their worlds and friendships unravel. With lots of laughs, sex chat and “healthy competition”, these girls are the definition of a hot mess.
‘Excellence In All Areas’ explores the constant expectations that are placed on young women by school, pop culture and the world around them. From how they should look to how they should act; they are all seeking to be Beyonce with Einstein-level intellect. Constantly in pursuit of perfection, these girls buckle under the pressure with little emotional support. “Survival of the fittest” is taken to extremes as they adopt long-lasting coping mechanisms from disordered eating, excessive exercise, belittling others and seeking validation through sex.
At its core, ‘Excellence In All Areas’ begs the question: What do we lose in the pursuit of perfection?

“Rodgers played the role of Lesley with a cheekiness and naivety...The closing gambit was delivered with great sincerity.”
