Ahh, househunting. We’ve all been there – scouring the internet; talking to agents; viewings (which are basically auditions these days!); negotiations; rejections… It’s a challenge, right?
Well it turns out that finding a new venue is a very similar beast. Add to the mix our non-negotiables: step-free access, scale, and ‘VAULT vibes’ plus the financial challenges of being an arts charity, and you’ve basically got the Big Boss at the end of a video game. Defeatable, sure, but requiring an abundance of effort and attempts.
Over the past couple of months we’ve been leaving no stone unturned in our search. We’ve explored tunnels, basements, tower blocks and empty buildings, fire stations, warehouses, and more. We’ve definitely got some interesting prospective possibilities on the table, but as we wait for the right thing to click, the search continues…
A note on VAULT Festival 2024
It’d normally be that time of year where we’d be making announcements of next year’s festival opening for applications. Whilst we don’t want to set hare’s racing, we have been exploring what a totally one-off, pop up VAULT Festival might look like, in the space between now and finding our forever home. Our current imaginations and conversations are manifesting as a bit of a different VAULT Festival to the norm, and naturally we won’t be able to offer our usual scale, but nonetheless we may have something fun and exciting in the works. More on that soon – but no promises at this stage!
