ALINEMENT is a new Theatre and Film Production company focused on creating stories that are often seen as ‘niche’ or ‘taboo’. Our ethos is to take stories that are otherwise seen as seasons e.g: ‘Black’, ‘Queer’, ‘Female’ etc and push them to the front with the same validity and gravitas as conventional narratives. The idea for the company was born out of diversity centric frustrations felt by us within the creative industry. The name ALINEMENT came from an urge to align anyone underrepresented: black, female, LGBTQI+ with the mainstream.
‘Opening doors and creating pathways for the 'Other’ to tread and become the norm!’
ALINEMENT Pictures first short film 'Obscure Origins', written and directed by Molly Moody, stars a diverse, all female cast. It is a short centring around modern day witchcraft. 'Lucky Suds', written and directed by Oliver Wellington and Ashley Byam, is an ALINEMENT Pictures black comedy short, exploring whether luck can transcend societal constraints and how far we are willing to go in order to escape our individually prescribed boxes.
ALDP is ALINEMENT’s first full length gig-theatre production. It tells the story of the a young mixed race woman entering the very white, male dominated arena of 1970s UK punk rock. Working under the mentorship of Wildcard Theatre (creators of award winning gig theatre show ELECTROLYTE) & producer Matt Parritt (Trafalgar Studios) this project is a vital opportunity for us to realise our full artistic vision at the biggest arts festival in London, reach more audiences and solidify our reputation for championing diverse work.Book Now
