A curious club night where extraordinary brass-fuelled live music and performance is interspersed with a series of micro-lectures on existence, stars, and our unlikely place within the cosmos.
Inspired by cosmologist Carl Sagan’s famous quote “we are starstuff”,
a variety of guest scientists, thinkers and musicians will explore this fascinating truth from their own unique perspective.

Dr Teppei Katori from King’s College, London. Dr Katori and has a wide interest in particle physics, nuclear physics, and astrophysics, both theory and experiment.
His main focus is neutrino physics, including understanding the properties of neutrinos and using neutrinos as tools to search for new physics.

Beautiful Cosmos is an extension of Perhaps Contraption’s euphoric musical celebration of atoms, stars and existence Nearly Human, which runs at Vault Festival 18th - 23rd February at 19:30 (plus 16:30 on the 22nd).

Perhaps Contraption is a multi-award winning, 9-piece progressive brass band and theatrical music troupe from London.
By blending choral vocals and orchestral instruments with the ethos of art rock and a marching band, the ensemble have created a highly unique and passionate live experience.
Performing internationally since 2011, the band have astonished audiences around the globe. Notable destinations include Glastonbury Festival, Sudtirol Jazz Festival (Italy), London Jazz Festival, Aldeburgh Festival, Bestival, Royal Academy of Arts, Wilderness, Southbank Centre, Cross Linx (The Netherlands) Latitude, Artisti in Piazza (Italy), Buskers Bern (Switzerland), Honk! Festival (USA) and in support of Amanda Palmer.
Supported by a Snape Maltings artist residency and the Les Enfants Terribles Award, the band have recently branched out into theatre to push the boundaries of live music performance; finding new ways to engage audiences and tell powerful, uplifting stories.Book Now
