Funny Women Comedy Shorts Awards 2017

Film and tv obsessed comedians Suzy Bennett and Sooz Kempner host a screening of the shortlisted final films and announce the winner of the Funny Women Comedy Shorts Awards.

This year’s incredible judging panel includes Roisin Conaty (Actress, comedian, producer and writer; star of Channel Four’s Man Down and writer, producer and star of hit TV series GameFace), Rob Aslett (Director of Avalon Entertainment and TV Exec Producer), Richard Grocock (TV Comedy and Development Producer at Wicked Little Critter, Baby Cow, Phil McIntyre) Clelia Mountford (Merman Co-founder and Executive Producer), Anna Bogutskaya (Underwire Film Festival Director) and Kate Daughton (Commissioning Editor for Comedy at BBC).

The Funny Women Comedy Shorts Award was introduced in 2014 providing a platform for female film makers to submit a one to six minute film. As well as receiving invaluable industry feedback from our illustrious panel, we have partnered with Comedy Central UK and the top 10 finalists will be given the chance to have their film hosted on Comedy Central’s website & digital platforms for the UK to see!

About the company

The Funny Women Awards are now in their 15th year. Funny Women was founded by Lynne Parker in 2002 to help women find their voice through performing, writing and using humour in business and everyday life. The Funny Women Awards were launched in 2003, and have provided a launch platform for some of the best female acts on the comedy circuit including Susan Calman, Bridget Christie, Katherine Ryan, Andi Osho and Sarah Millican. The Comedy Shorts Award was introduced in 2014. Funny Women runs comedy workshops and showcase events in London, Manchester, Dublin, Brighton and Edinburgh. The company also provides workplace training and coaching. ‘Time of the Month’ is a London based open mic night to develop and encourage women to try out new comedy ideas. All activities are supported by an informative and entertaining website featuring news, reviews and articles.
