Bringing together the work of three leading practitioners, Hypnagogue uses hypnotherapy, storytelling and gong-healing, woven together with a live, improvised soundtrack, to take audience members on an unforgettable, transformative journey. Each show begins with shared intentions from the audience before a hypnotic trance is induced, after which a story is improvised using ingredients provided by the audience and accompanied by a live gong-healing and instrumental soundtrack. N.B. The show is not suitable for pregnant women or those with pacemakers and anyone who is clearly under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be admitted for their own physical and mental safety. Hypnagogue has the power to transform all who arrive with an open heart and mind.
As well as being a skilled musician and an award winning entertainer, Desmond O'Connor is a trained hypnotherapist who is exploring ways in which hypnosis can be used to create transformative entertainment experiences. Zoie Kennedy is a well-known actress and celebrated story teller who has been using improvised stories as a conduit to healing and personal development through her work with Desmond O'Connor and as one half of The Shadow Travellers, who have performed at Glastonbury, Latitude and the ICA. Alicia Davies is a percussionist and sound-healer who has led hundreds of workshops using powerful techniques that have been handed down over thousands of years. Together, the company have the simple aim to shift, transform and enrich the lives of every audience member who buys a ticket and steps through the doors of Hypnagogue.
Zoie Kennedy has had a long and varied acting career including stints in PARADOX with Tamzin Outhwaite (Clerkenwell Films/BBC Worldwide), BLUE MURDER, HOLBY CITY, DOCTORS and EMMERDALE, but is probably best known for her role as Staff Nurse Meryl Taylor in ITV's THE ROYAL (Series I-V), for which she was shortlisted as 'Best Newcomer' in the National Television Awards.
Desmond O'Connor continues to produce countless knock out shows, from the fun and frivolous to the dark and disturbing. He worked with Scott Mills on Scott Mills: The Musical and Fun & Filth for BBC Radio One. He wrote But First This: A Musical Homage to Radio 4 with Kathy Clugston and he is composer, lyricist and book-writer for Royal Vauxhall, which is currently in production as a full length feature film.
