In 2015 Brookes performed his debut hour comedy show at the Edinburgh Fringe. He knew nothing about how the fringe worked. He had no agent, no PR. His show was on at 1.30pm, at a venue no-one had heard of, performed to an average audience of 6 people a day. Now, 3 years later, he’s dug this show out to see if any of it was any good, or if one audience member back in 2015 was correct to turn to her friend mid-show and very noticeably whisper “I’m sorry I dragged you to this”.
Truth and fiction knock lumps out of each other on the battleground of a pale, malnourished man’s body and mind. A nonsense delve into identity, ambition and the lies we tell ourselves to get out of bed in the morning. Expect absurdist stand-up, sort-of character sketches, unnatural smiling and a callous lack of emotional pay-off.
Edinburgh Comedy Award Nominee Jordan Brookes brings his first every show back for one night only.
