LAD

Steve is fine. No really, he’s grand. He’s a lad. He’s always been a lad — one of the lads. But the lads have changed and Steve feels like an endangered species. The last of his kind. With nobody to talk to.
But there's one lad left. His lad. And his lad... talks back.

LAD is a cheeky two-hander that tugs playfully at the knot of toxic masculinity.
A balls-to-the-wall comedy about... balls. And becoming a better man.

Irish theatre company One Duck bring LAD to VAULT Festival following its sold-out run in
Dublin last year. With their critically acclaimed production of Flights by John O’Donovan
(⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Guardian, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Stage, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Reviews Hub) playing at
Omnibus Theatre until February 29th and their recent work-in-progress showing of A Young Man
Comes starring Pauline McLynn (Father Ted; Shameless; Eastenders) in week 2 of this year's
festival, One Duck are quickly establishing themselves as Ireland’s most prolific
emerging theatre company.

Alan Mahon from Dublin is Artistic Director of One Duck and a freelance actor. He has recently
finished filming Edgar Wright’s new film Last Night in Soho and has played Hamlet at the
Tobacco Factory in Bristol.

Rhys Dunlop from Belfast was recently seen in BBC’s Come Home and the acclaimed Flights by John O’Donovan. He has been nominated for an Irish Times Irish Theatre Award for his role in Punk Rock at the Lyric Theatre, Belfast.

Thomas Martin is associate director of One Duck. His productions of Margaret Perry’s Collapsible and John O’Donovan’s Flights are currently playing at London’s Bush and Omnibus theatres respectively. Other work includes Ross & Rachel by James Fritz and If We Got Some More Cocaine I Could Show You How I Love You by John O'Donovan.
