“Living Here?, which opened the night, is a remarkable first outing by AYENAI. The sensitive finger-picking of onstage guitarist (Andrea Todesco) and double bassist (Peter Thomas) grips me. The work is a domestic, semi-pedestrian exploration of place. Aurore Vigneron and Isabel Alvarez slide and collapse across a sofa, throw cushions off and struggle to comfort each other. The movement is figuratively powerful and more than the sum of its parts. Promising.”
