We have no option but to transition to a low-carbon future and we have little time left to do it. Three framings of how we get there dominate public discourse: individual lifestyle choices, greening capitalism, and techno-optimism. Despite efforts to present the transition as an opportunity, it is much more widely seen as a threat. Peadar Kirby challenges these framings as being too narrowly bound by our dominant technological and neoliberal society, arguing that we urgently need to make imaginary leaps adequate to where science tells us we have to go. Our pathways must begin by radically reimagining politics, economics, livelihoods, community and values, taking back the imaginative power we have allowed become so sterile and bounded.Book Now
