Secondbests by Richard Marsh

Brand new road trip wham bam rom com laugh bomb.

This show occurs on the 28th January and 18th of March only.

VAULT recidivist Richard Marsh is back for two nights only with a brand new comic drama starring Olivia Poulet (The Thick of It, Sherlock, In The Loop, Back).

A woman, a man, an air-con caravan. Two strangers on a road trip across the States. One’s heartless, one’s heartbroken. Mismatched fools seeking one last lick of warmth, soaring gracefully from pedestal to ditch.

A story of laughter and alcohol, heartbreak and gasoline, exes and whys. Will they find love or do opposites subtract?

Two scratch performances of this world premiere shambling romance. Previous Vault shows include Dirty Great Love Story (Fringe First), Wingman and Cardboard Heart (Radio 4). Expect drama, poetry, jokes.

Richard previously wrote Skittles aka Love & Sweets (BBC Audio Drama Award: Best Scripted Comedy) and co-wrote the Fringe First-winning Dirty Great Love Story (with Katie Bonna), Wingman and Cardboard Heart (Radio 4).

This is a scratch production. We would welcome your feedback after the show.

‘One of the most enjoyable finds at this year’s Fringe.’
★★★★ Evening Standard

‘Gloriously, upliftingly, unapologetically heart-warming. You leave with a tear in your eye and a generally restored faith in humanity.’
★★★★ Fest

‘Poignant, funny, well observed… a properly lovely piece of theatre.’
★★★★ Exeunt

Praise for On Dirty Great Love Story (co-written with Katie Bonna)

‘Dirty Great Love Story does exactly what it says on the tin – and they could throw in the adjectives Lovely, Witty, Delicious too. Warmly and fuzzily recommended’
★★★★★ The Independent

‘Laughs are frequent, unsignalled and brilliant.’
★★★★ The Times

‘This is the kind of show that simultaneously restores your faith in human nature and the Fringe. … Bliss.’
