Calling all adventurers!
Following their critical success at Edinburgh Fringe 2018 & 2019 (selected as EdFringeReview.com’s Editors’ Pick), KinkyFish make their debut at The Vaults festival.
KinkyFish invite you to join writer-performer Rajan Sharma as he navigates classical mythology, family history, and his own experience crewing on a deep sea challenge. In this intimate spoken word performance contemplating humanity’s primal connection to oceans, rivers and seas, prepare to brave the elements, sail stormy waters, and embark upon a lyrical voyage through the ages... Will you answer the Mariner’s call?
'Wonderful storytelling' **** (EdFringeReview.com). 'Beautiful and hypnotic' (ThreeWeeks).Book Now
Actor and theatre-maker Rajan Sharma trained at Arts Educational Schools London, and is now co-Artistic Director of KinkyFish; a community of international creatives founded in London in 2008 – dedicated to collaborative, innovative theatre-making, and the provision of a platform for emerging writers – regularly achieving critical success at theatre spaces and arts festivals across the UK. KinkyFish are currently strengthening their brand and reputation in Edinburgh, recently introducing KinkyFish Improv Jam nights and workshops to develop and nurture the local improvisation community, and made their fourth appearance at the Fringe Festival in 2019 with The Mariners Song as well as 2 other shows which premiered at Edinburgh Fringe 2019.
The Mariner’s Song marks Sharma’s debut as both a writer and a solo performer. Keen to explore the work further with regards to both scale and access, KinkyFish and Sharma’s ambition is to tour this unique work to rural communities, as well as the larger arts and literary festivals; seeking to promote inclusivity, maximise access to the arts, and share the power of storytelling in its most essential form with new and diverse audiences throughout the UK (and beyond).Book Now

For Mariner's Song:
“... in a world dominated by screens and special effects, it’s no easy task for one man and his words to captivate an entire audience’s attention, yet Rajan Sharma does so beautifully in this spoken word piece... ” * * * * Lucy Caradog, Three Weeks
“... thanks to the gravitas, warmth, and skill Sharma brings to this piece, it is easy to enjoy. This is wonderful storytelling... ” * * * * Martha Crass, edfringereview.com
“... The poem itself flows with a rhythm true to its ancient predecessors, and the delivery runs seamless and confident for the entire 50 minutes... The Mariner’s Song is quite simply very entertaining... ” * * * * Molly Stock-Duerdoth, edfringereview.com
