A blistering, contemporary Irish play by Finbarr Doyle and Jeda de Brí; TRYST explores the price of curiosity, the limits of friendship and the complications of sex.
Matt and Steph are hungover. Their wedding is in a week. Things are under control. Mostly. But when their best friend Rachel arrives unannounced, she reveals a secret that threatens to unravel everything. Now they must deal with the consequences of their messy nights and bad decisions. Who do you blame when your life is derailed? How far will you go to get it back on track?
Sickle Moon is a critically acclaimed theatre and film company, dedicated to producing work that is character driven, visually striking and emotionally honest. We have independently produced seven plays, two short films and four short theatre pieces for festivals and anthologies.
Our work has been published by Oberon Books, screened on RTÉ national television and nominated for awards both nationally and internationally.
Our productions have been hailed as “extraordinarily well-made” (Sunday Independent), with "razor sharp dialogue" (Irish Independent) and "closely observed details" (The Examiner) that are “delicately constructed and subtly performed” (The Irish Times).
Most recently TRYST, our sell out 2016 Dublin Fringe show, was revived in 2018 at Project Arts Centre and The Civic Theatre, Dublin to universal acclaim.
TRYST is currently being developed as a feature film with Screen Ireland (The Irish Film Board) and Treasure Entertainment.
In 2018, writers Jeda de Brí and Finbarr Doyle were selected to work with Fishamble: The New Play Company as part of their “A Play for Ireland” initiative, developing a new play in partnership with Draíocht Arts Centre, Blanchardstown.

THE SUNDAY TIMES: "With witty, razor-sharp dialogue, this is an intense, brilliantly acted play that shimmers with raw honesty.”
THE SUNDAY INDEPENDENT: "A serious, extraordinarily well-made play that is as thought-provoking as it is gripping".
THE IRISH TIMES: "Sickle Moon’s production is an agitated portrait of assured mutual destruction, measured out in duologues about betrayal, consent, envy and abuse. Fans of verbal laceration will enjoy."
THE ARTS REVIEW, ★★★★: “Provocative and deeply human.”
THE REVIEWS HUB, ★★★★: "The dialogue is sharp and rapid, the words emotively delivered, whilst drunken memories are conveniently remembered and misremembered."
MEG.IE: "This superb, clever piece of writing, excellently executed left me emotionally exhausted. I laughed, cried and sat in shock at the unfolding of a friendship, the unravelling of a regretful night and an impending marriage. Tryst is unmissable, a five-star play."
Praise for previous work

The Irish Mail on Sunday: ★★★★ "An enjoyably wicked combination of black comedy and political satire... A tightly written, well-acted piece.” (Tactics, 2014)
The Irish Times "A revealing, understated comedy ... delicately constructed and subtly performed"
The Sunday Independent “...dazzlingly effective, a clear-sighted little examination... tautly directed by de Brí.” (Slippers, 2014)
